Who are we?
Rishi Narayan
Rishi Narayan is an entrepreneur and early-stage investor based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Rishi has founded several companies, including Underground Printing, a national custom apparel and collegiate merchandise retailer with locations throughout the country.
Outside of Chibor companies, Rishi is also angel investor in a variety of other startups, a co-founder of AFC Ann Arbor, a lower league soccer franchise playing the United Soccer League (USL), and a lecturer in the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan. Most recently, Rishi started and is the host of I Am Ann Arbor, a podcast about the people & stories of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Rishi holds his B.S.E. and M.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
D. Scott DeRue
Scott is President of Equinox Fitness Clubs. Founded in 1991, Equinox was built on the notion that fitness can empower a life well-lived and foster a strong community of high performance individuals. Nearly 30 years later, Equinox continues to lead and disrupt the category it singularly defined, operating over 100 full-service Clubs globally across major US cities including New York, LA, Miami and San Francisco as well as London, Toronto and Vancouver, each featuring bespoke design in an unparalleled luxury environment.
Scott was formerly the Dean of the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business and and among the top 50 most influential business professors in the world, Scott advises companies on executive leadership, founding teams, and building scalable organizations. His research is widely published in top research journals and is often featured in national media outlets.
Scott is an avid adventurer and mountaineer, and lives in Ann Arbor, MI with his wife Kathy and their cat Tyson (named after Mike due to similarities in personality).
Scott earned his Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his PhD in Management from Michigan State University.
Arjuna Reddy
Arjuna is an accomplished senior financial management and accounting executive with 15 years of progressive experience in finance, operations, and human resources management within startups and high-trajectory growth stage organizations. He has had success streamlining business operations in order to facilitate rapid growth, increase efficiency, and drive bottom-line profit. At multiple companies Arjuna has has created and implemented financial controls and processes to ensure compliance. He's been recognized for strong leadership and helping team members achieve peak performance and career advancement.
Most recently Arjuna grew and sold QDiscovery (a LegalTech company) to JLL Partners. He started his career in Investment Banking at UBS and subsequently William Blair. Arjuna has his MBA from Kellogg and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
In addition to Chibor companies, Arjuna is an angel investor in a variety of other startups including Chubbies, Bucketfeet (exited) and Seelio (exited).
